SCATTeRGORIeS is a creative-thinking category-based game that can be played exactly like Polish "Państwa-miasta" game. It's a race against time to come up with words beginning with the letter on the dice...

Ages: teenagers, adolescents, adults / 12 years & up
Average playing time: 20 minutes
Contents: 6 Folders, 6 Answer Pads, 6 Pencils, 18 Category Cards (12 different lists of categories), Timer, Die, Die-Rolling Board.
How 2 play:
Divide students into teams (or let them play individually), hand out folders and pencils.
Each game of Scattergories consists of three rounds, as there are three columns a page in the Answer Pad.
Explain the rules of the game. Ask your Ss if the rules of SCATTeRGORIeS remind them of any Polish games they had a chance to play. Of course the answer is "Państwa-miasta".
Pick a volunteer to choose the list of catergories from the avaliable set of category cards. For this purpose I use an additional 12-side die as there are 12 different lists of categories to chose from.
Begin each round by rolling the letter die, and start the timer. If you roll a letter that had already been rolled during this game, re-roll or change the category-card list.
Answers must begin with the letter on the Scattergories die. Articles (A/An/The) do not fulfill the beginning letter requirement. Instead, the word following the article will be the letter that counts.
Players take turns reading their lists. Players score one point for each answer not crossed out.
